BASICS

What is Friends Around (FAM)?

Friends Around is a mobile community that makes it easy to discover and fun to interact with people around you, from all over the world.

Can I login with my Facebook or Twitter account?

Yes. We allow Facebook Connect and Twitter API.

Do I need to register to use Friends Around (FAM)?

No. You can register and create a username and pass, but you can also login with your Facebook or Twitter accounts.

Why should I add my Facebook and/or Twitter accounts to my profile?

If you add your Facebook and Twitter accounts you can:

  • Import your contacts from both services (coming soon)
  • Send your status updates to both services

USERS

How can I interact with users?

You can just visit a profile, Wink, Poke, Chat, Send Gifts. You can also add someone to your list of Friends, or mark someone as Favorite. Note that by just looking at profile the user will see you have visited them, and the interaction begins.

What are Friends and Favorites?

  • Friends are a list of users that you create. If you add someone to your Friends list, you will see their Updates (or activity), and they will see yours. You will need permission to add someone as a Friend.
  • Favorites is just a bookmark of a user. You can have a Favorite that is not a Friend, or a Friend that is also a Favorite. But, you won't see your Favorite's Updates, and they will not see yours. You don't need permission to mark someone as a Favorite.

If I add someone as a Friend, does the person needs to authorize me?

Yes. But you can mark someone as Favorite and the person won't need to authorize you. For Favorites, you don't see the Updates (see "What are Friends and Favorites?")

What information appears on the Updates?

Your Updates will track (and show your friends) every time you:

  • Upload, rate a picture, or get your pictures rated.
  • Change your status.
  • Change your picture (icon).
  • Send or receive gifts.
  • Ascend on the Top Users list (reach Top 10).

PRIVACY

How do I set my Privacy?

  1. Click on "Info + Privacy" section, at the bottom of the screen
  2. Select "Privacy"
  3. Open "Advanced" to fine tune your privacy, or click "Total Privacy" for a stealth mode.

What privacy controls do I have?

  • You can block "Chat with Strangers". You will only be able to chat with people you accept as friends.
  • You can block "Rate my Pictures". People won't be able to rate your pictures.
  • You can hide your location on the map. The app will not show your location on the Nearby map.
  • You can hide your personal information.
  • You can block Pokes and Winks.
  • You can block any user.

Who can see my profile?

Anyone can see your profile, and this way you can always see who visited your profile. You can also block anyone from visiting your profile. You can block your personal information (age, bio, etc) from being displayed too.

How can I block a user?

You can block any user, and remove the block also, at anytime.

  1. Go to the user profile you want to block
  2. Click on the tab "Info"
  3. Scroll down and click "Block profile"

PICTURES

How do I rate pictures?

Go to a user's profile and click on their pictures to rate them. Remember, you will receive points for doing this, so do it often.

How do I upload a picture?

On your profile, tap on your photos section and you will be prompted to upload a picture. At the present time you can upload 5 pictures to your profile.

How many pictures can I upload?

You can upload only 5 pictures. One of them will be used as your Main Picture, or user icon. You can change the pictures at anytime, uploading new ones over the old ones. You can also buy extra photo slots.

What is a SuperStar?

A SuperStar is a special mark you can give to a picture. The SuperStar will cost you f100 (Fames).

Offensive Images

No image uploaded to Friends Around should display full nudity, profanity, racist messages or symbols, or sexually graphic material. Some material considered artwork or scientifically will be exempt. Please read the Terms and Conditions for more details.

The Friends Around team reserves the right to remove any image that violates this guidelines, at any moment.

CHATS

How do I chat in private?

Every chat is initiated in private mode, or one-to-one. But, anyone in a chat can invite more users to the chat.

How I start a Chat?

There are two ways to begin a chat:

  • On the profile of a user, click on the "Chat" button.
  • On the "Chats" section of the app, click on "Create Chat" and choose from a list of Friends, Favorites, or people Nearby.
  • Are Chats history saved?
  • Yes. The history (or whatever was said on the chat) is saved. "Forever", or until our server can't hold anymore. We don't guarantee a timeframe.

FAMES

What are Fames?

"Fames" are what we call our points inside the app. Fames allow you to buy virtual gifts at the shop and get ranked in the "Top Users" list.

How do I get Fames?

You collect Fames by doing the following things:

  • f20 – Share on Twitter, from the Dashboard (once every 24 hours).
  • f20 – Share on Facebook, from the Dashboard (once every 24 hours).
  • f10 – For login every day (once every 24 hours).
  • f10 – When you get SuperStar star rating on your pic.

FEEDBACK

How do I send feedback, suggestions?

On the application itself, go to the home screen and click on "Feedback". You will be required to set up a log in to Get Satisfaction – which is where we will be receiving your comments and suggestions. If they are approved you will see the changes in future updates.
